I am not sure of who this person is, but he uses one the gestalt principle called continuation. This gives the painting a 3-d effect, because of the lines that are going under other lines and coming out the other end. Many graffiti artist use continuation for that effect. It really pops off the wall. When I draw I sometimes use continuation to keep people eyes moving around the page.
